Upside Down is the only way I can succinctly describe a world in which 25 hedge fund managers are paid a sum that would employ 680,000 entry-level teachers. The person in the swing is supported by an infrastructure (the tree) grown of violence (the bomb). I think of that person as your average first-world citizen living in a waking dream powered by fast food value menus, Dancing With The Stars, NASCAR and the NFL (all streaming in high definition).

It’s notable that this shirt is the first 200 Nipples shirt we will sell at flat pricing ($29) and with free shipping (every order, every location, worldwide). It’s a big change and you can read more about it here. The short story is that we’ve had a lot people ask for flat pricing, it will allow us to keep doing what we’re doing and now people who want the higher numbers can get them. We’re shipping free because at flat pricing we can afford to.
“Upside Down” goes on sale on the home page April 12th, 2010 at 12:00am (US CST). Enjoy…

This is one of your better designs, but frankly I can’t imagine a t-shirt that’s worth $30.

Good luck guys.
Just what I thought, only 3 shirts sold so far
Can you please change it back! Flat fee’s defeats the whole purpose of this site.
I miss the competition and the thrill of snatching a shirt.
I think a flat-rate is a mistake! The whole concept 200 Nipples was based on was 1$ to 100$ t-shirts, where is the fun in a number if you pay 29$. You gave in to the masses. It is really a bummer because I like this week’s shirt. 35$ is way to much money to pay for a normal t-shirt which is what 200 Nipples has become. Bring the price down or go back to the number=$ system please!
What happened? This site was a breath of fresh air. Now it feels like everything else. I felt really lucky to happen upon the #3 shirt a little while ago. To my surprise, it tells me I owe $29. I would understand if I had come upon a higher number, but that’s not the case.
Tiffany, the $29 price includes shipping, so the shirts are $29, not $35.
Lol. Does that make a difference, wade? They are still $20 more than what they should be worth. But based on some of the more recent designs, (excluding this one) idk if it’s worth that.
Please wade, change the system back. Or at least explain your reasoning behind these changes.
P.S. Free Shipping means nothing when the shirts are $20-10 more than what used to be paid.
Dave,
I explained the reasoning behind the change in this post.

There are lots of comments about it from myself and others, too.
What happens to the shirts you dont sell? Will you offer them at a discounted price at a later time?
Karen,
That may be a possibility. I’ll announce it here if that ever becomes an option.

Hi, you did not answer my 1st question? What happens now to the shirts you dont sell? Since they are numbered from 1 to 100? Well hopefully you sell all 100!
Company/Site idea :: Great
Original pricing model :: Innovative/Awesome
New pricing model :: VERY disappointing
Designs in general :: decent/cool
Attempts at making a political statement with your designs :: An even worse idea than the new pricing model. The minute you do that you’re alienating a large percentage of the few customers you had remaining after the pricing switch.
Stick to line drawings of chairs etc. Please.
Karen,
We don’t print shirts that are not purchased. At some point in the future we plan on making any unpurchased numbers of older designs available for sale. We’re still working out a way to do it right. Having said that, we won’t ever offer more than 100 of any one of our designs.
Tschrister,
Thanks for the advice, but I that seems kind of boring to me. I dunno. I’m OK with alienating some people. (I’m also OK with those people buying their t-shirts at Target and JC Penney.) Eagle.)
Sell 22 shirts for $15 and you’ll have about the same profit as you’ve made from the 9 shirts you’ve sold so far. And at $15 you’d most likely sell way more than 22 shirts. Just a thought. I won’t be buying a $29 t-shirt here or anywhere else.
I think the new pricing structure is a good idea and very cost effective for the brains behind the scene. Yeah it’s a bummer to loose your chance at buying a shirt for $1, but honestly, on average I’ve been paying more for their shirts compared to the newly offered flat rate. You still have an opportunity to collect “art,” it’s still numbered, and I think it’s a very unique quality for something so simple as a t-shirt. You won’t see these designs and know the background behind the work of the artist on a shirt you could buy for similar price points at stores like American Apparel (or even JC Penney).
Everyone keeps using $1 shirts as an example, but I’m just bummed out that I can’t get a shirt for how much its worth.($10-$20)
Hey I’m really annoyed because you said it ships ANYWHERE yeah well what about nsw Australia yeah I tried getting number 3 but it didn’t work I have been using this site for ages but have never gotten the one I want so I havent known it doesn’t ship to where I live I’m really disapoibted
Sophie,
Hmmm, there’s no reason it shouldn’t have worked. If the US Post Office ships to a place, so do we. Thanks for bringing it up, we’re looking into it.
I am trying to order a girl cut but at will not let me select the radio button…any ideas?
Thanks
I just got my girlie cut Upside Down shirt and I love it! The size was tight so I’m glad I got a medium instead of a small. Great product! Stick with it! They got the kinks worked out via an employee with the girlie cut not showing up, I really appreciate the help and efficiency in helping me get the shirt I loved.
